JOHN 19:28-30
28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled,Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
It is that time we call Easter. We have all enjoyed the holiday and the chocolate. But Easter is more than a holiday or a "Holy-day". It is about Jesus. This may not meaning anything to you so lets look at who JESUS was and what his life was all about.
Jesus was a good man who was put to death. He was however, more than just a man, He was and is the Son of God. He is the the one who came down to earth from heaven, from eternity into time. He Came to show us as Humans the way. He lived a sinless life. Yes. Jesus lived a life without sin. Jesus was a real person, who went through REAL things. He was beaten, whipped, wounded, spat on, mocked, his skin ripped off him and in this weakened condition he was made to carry a heavy wooden cross which he was then nailed to and crucified.
God Shed his blood for us. Me you and we were all bought with a price. If we bring this back to the modern day world, If you go to a shop, there is a transaction that takes place before you have officially bought that item. This is what Jesus did. Jesus Christ came to rescue/save us.
Now you may ask, what does it mean when He said "It is Finished". In the Jewish language, the words "It is finished" in the Jewish language mean "Paid in full".
Yes, Jesus died for us, Yes he was buried but yes he is ALIVE.
Amazing isn't it...
